Well, I don't think I would refer to myself as (ahem) an old timer. However, I think you are referring to Tom Jacobs, probably the most seen extra, or background actor, in TAGS. You are correct about the Lebanese extraction, because Tom was Danny Thomas's brother. There was one time that Tom had a spoken line on TAGS. It was in the episode "Goober Takes a Car Apart" when townspeople were peering into the courthouse to see Gilly Walker's car. Tom says something like, "How'd he do it, Sheriff?" For a time, this episode caused some to identify Tom as Johnny Coons. That's because Tom was not given a credit for his line (as I recall), but credit was given to an actor named Johnny Coons whose scene was cut from the show before it aired. Apparently, Andy got very animated when he was tickled about something and laughed with gusto. Perhaps someone else can confirm this.
