The only time my family availed themselves of milk deliveries was in southern
California when Daddy was overseas. With 7 children needing nutrition and Mama
not driving, we kept that man busy with milk, cheese, butter, eggs and fruit
punch! He left the order in a metal rack on the porch where we had already
placed the empty bottles from the day before. There were also two bakeries that
went thru the neighborhood twice weekly with bread and goodies on a specially
made truck with wooden drawers. I wish these services were available today as I
sure could use the help!
