I was watching my DVDs today and I noticed something. In the b/w years
we saw much more of Andy at work & less of the town. I can't imagine a
b/w episode around a minor character except maybe once in a while. None
come to mind, in fact, but if i was to study on it, I'd likely think up
a few. Floyd, the Gay Deceiver & the one where Gomer loses his job at
the filling station come to mind.

Colour episodes had Howard moving to the Caribbean & becoming a Big
Brother, Emmett selling life Insurance for his bro in law and planning
his 25th Wedding Anniv. w/Martha, Goober growing a beard, feeling
inadequate next to his pal at the auto show in Raleigh, etc.

We also saw more of Clara Edwards in the color episodes and learned a
bit more about our beloved Aunt Bee, as well. So all in all, while I do
think the b/w episodes are better, the colour episodes have something
special as well. Heck fire, I'd take the color episodes of TAGS over
just about any comedy on the air today.
