Hoi folks, >From time to time I'm invited to share how the VPP development community is progressing. This week I joined the DENOG folks in Hamburg, Germany, to show how a combination of VPP, Linux Control Plane, and higher level automation like vppcfg come together to provide a reasonably complete ISP peering router. I was challenged a while ago to demonstrate the 100Mpps barrier, which most of us may have already passed with fancy new hardware that exposes PCIe v4.0, but for this talk I took a 10 year old Dell R720 and submitted it to a T-Rex loadtest, It yielded some pretty good results.
