Hello All,

Preamble: I'm new to FD.io VPP, I walked through the documentation, but if the need arises

in an answer, please re-direct me to the proper links in the docs.

We are investigating the use of FD.io VPP as a network stack over our radio layer.

1. In a regular deployment over a NIC (network card) the flow would be:

Our process --> Memif --> VPP (TCP to eth) --> DPDK plug-in --> NIC

In our intentions:

Our process --> Memif --> VPP (TCP to eth) --> ??? custom plug-in --> Our radio stack (including driver)

I walked through the VPP docs, but it is not clear to me if there is already something that can let

us interface with the bottom of the stack.

Any pointer to the docs will be appreciated.

Do we need a custom plug-in to interface with the lower layers?

2. How to configure VPP for multi instances ? (Any doc on it specifically?)

3. How does the RSS mechanism works?

In some tries I've seen performances varying over a 100 Gbps NIC with dpdk from 15 to 36 Gbps (iperf3):

same conditions but in some tests increased performance.

Any configuration tweak?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Federico Strati
