Eric,
Something stands out to me is the feature-mask 0xff when you create the vhost
interface. Why do you specify 0xff? While I am checking 17.01 to see how this
feature-mask 0xff works, could you please try it without the feature-mask? It
does not look like feature-mask 0xff would work in 17.01 either.
sudo vppctl create vhost socket /tmp/sock1.sock server feature-mask 0xFF

Now that I'm testing, I noticed that I can no longer ping between VM hosts

make use of vhost-user interfaces and are connected via l2 bridge domain
(nor l2 xconnect). I double checked, then reverted back to 17.01, where I

again verify connectivity between the guests.
Any else seeing this, or was there a change in how this should be set up?
