Vmxnet3 interfaces are strongly preferred: for performance, as well as to make this specific issue disappear.
We have a patch floating around which turns off the disk-filling syslog message, but if you simply switch to vmxnet3 interfaces the pain will go away without rebuilding images, etc. etc. HTH...
