Why-oh-why don't they have a heat engine on the output? (Or heat pump + heat engine.) With roughly 10 kW out, I'm quite sure it wouldn't be impossible to create the necessary 220 VAC @ 2.5 kW input. "Just" switch over from Mains when the reactor is fairly stable @ COP=4.
