It occurred to me that if heat energy becomes free enough, you could use it to sterilize a swimming
pool by putting the heater in the circulation pump line and boiling, then condensing the water back to its original temperature briefly as it travels through the plumbing. A circulation pump can be on the order of 100 gallons/minute, so it's still lots of power, but most would be recovered during the condensing phase.
