What would be the energy source - if two protons become temporarily bound,
in one version of the Nyman/Rossi scenario?

Possible answer: "strangelets" or something related to quark rearrangement.

More on that later

"Quark-power" has a nice ring to it, no? Is Peugeot jumping the gun?

Of special interest to explaining Rossi's E-CAT, from the Nyman paper:

Simulations made with two different kinds of physics software both show the
following:

1. Two protons placed closely together will repel each other most of
the time.

2. Two protons shot at each other will bounce off and repel each other
most of the time.

3. However, it is occasionally possible to shoot two protons at each
other with the right speed and quark positions so that they latch on to
each other, fuse and stay together, held in place by Strong Force. See
simulation links below.

OK, this is most interesting in the context of Rossi, since this is
apparently an alternative to the P-e-P reaction where no electron is
involved. Two protons have negative binding energy, so many things could
happen.

As to "occasionally possible to shoot two protons at each other with the
right speed and quark positions" that rings of the importance of precise
temperature control in the context of cavity-QED where protons emerge from
cavities with the "right speed" to enhance strong force binding.

IOW, building on this mechanism, even when deuterium is not seen in the ash
of the reaction, there is a route to gain in some way - but the details are
not clear. This could be related to aspects of Horace's deflation theory,
since he does consider quark properties - unlike most other theories. It
should be worth the effort - reading the two papers together to see where
that leads. I need much more caffeine for that.

Subject: [Vo]:Gravity at quark dimensions

 <http://dipole.se/> http://dipole.se/

Interesting paper turned up on another forum, incorporating gravity at close
range, with application to LENR.

I have not had time to study it yet, but the premise is intriguing.

Ron Kita should be amused if he has not seen it.
