*UPDATE April 30, 2010.* The files have been replaced with new versions
using the new ClearScan option from Adobe Acrobat, with vector graphic
fonts. This makes the files somewhat larger but easier to read.

The ClearScan program is so sweet, I decided to have another crack at it. I
found a way to preserve the OCR layer generated by ABBYY while letting Adobe
Acrobat generate the image level. The files are somewhat larger than before,
but manageable, at 21 and 31 MB.

There is a problem with the first volume. It generates a recoverable error,
around p. 238, "Font Fd82874 bad /Widths." I'll try to fix that next week.
Probably need to re-render with ClearScan again, and maybe re-scan some of
those pages.

It looks a lot better. The underlying text is exactly the same as before.

When you let Adobe Acrobat control the scanner, the OCR works pretty well,
but I did not want to re-scan 680 pages. Someone with a high-speed scanner
did them for me in CCITT4. Adobe Acrobat does not like that format. I
rescanned ~100 pages.

There are some dreadful papers in this book!
