Since hardly anything is known about the composition and structure of Oumuamua one is free to imagine a composition and structure that could produce the observed trajectory when interacting the sun's magnetic field. In other words Oumuamua could be treated like a black box where only the rough dimensions of the box are known.
This situation is different from the Pioneer anomaly. Using the effect of sunlight on the spacecraft to explain the probe's anomalous acceleration had to be constrained by the known structure and composition of the spacecraft.
