This seems to dovetail well with the SPP coupling via a B field to orbital
electron spin energy states and or nuclear spin energy states.
Understanding may be in the wings as to the mechanism for transition of
nuclear mass energy to phonic (thermal energy)...described as
magnon-phonon-magnetoelastic-magnetic-photoexcitation.

They describe anomalies involving interactions of spin-domain boundaries and
photonic energy.
Here is a relevant quote from the phys.org overview article:
