VNC only uses TCP/IP.

Hmm, is the server you're trying to access publicly accessible over the
internet, that is, does it have an internet IP address, or will you need to
set up port forwarding on your router?

Assuming it's publicly accessible, can you ping the IP address successfully?
If so, can you telnet to port 5900 and get the following response

RFB 003.003

Let me know how you get on.

I have installed vnc server on the windows 2000 server
and started vnc service, setup password when prompted
and I have used local machine to the server and was
able to see the server fine. I came home, dialed in to
my isp and then started vnc viewer, I have entered the
IP address of the server, and then nothing happens. I
have checked the taskbar and see no vncviwer runnning.
After I clicked OK, vncviewer also disappears. Any
ideas on how to set up vnc using tcp/ip? Thanks for
your help.
