unix sources compile problem: gcc: cannot specify -o with -c or -S and multiple compilations

Hello,                                                                
I downloaded the Unix source version 3.3.3r2.                         
I un zip/tar ed the source                                            
did a                                                                 
xmkmf                                                                 
then did a                                                            
make World                                                            
                                                                      
That built file. However when I did a                                 
cd Xvnc/                                                              
make World                                                            
                                                                      
it failed. Here is a snippet of the output:
