Thanks Corni on the info. It works by running vncviewer on both sides. However, my concern is, won't it cause an increase of bandwidth. These 2 hosts are connected via ISDN links (BRI). Please advice.
Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: "Beerse, Corni" [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, April 18, 2002 5:25 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: help on UNIX vncserver > -----Original Message----- > From: Kevin Yeoh (ECM) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > I'm running vncserver on sun solaris 7 & vncviewer on win2k. > > When I run vncviewer, i get display from sun workstation on my PC. > However, the problem is the display is different from sun > workstation, as > though its a different session. > I can't see what I'm doing on the Sun workstation. There is one major difference between winvnc (M$Windows based vnc) and Xvnc (unix/X11 based vnc): Winvnc copies the console display. Xvnc gives a new, fresh display. For Xvnc: if you want to use applications both local and remote, start them in the Xvnc display and use vncviewer at both sides. >From unix, you can force X11 applications in the Xvnc with the -display option or by setting the $DISPLAY variable, just as with normal X11 display. > > I've no issue running both vncserver & vncviewer on win2k platform. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
