You pretty much said it. I have XP Pro, BTW. I've been using VNCViewer in various flavors for connecting to various VNC hosts (Windows and Linux) without any problems for a while, and run the WinVNC server occasionally on XP.
As far as VNC and multiple users goes, it behaves the same way as WinVNC does on earlier platforms.
