There's TridiaVNC you could try, but there shouldn't be a difference. When I had the problem with my W2K machine, the VNC distributions all behaved in exactly the same way. I admit my problem was down to using ZoneAlarm on a W2K machine, but if you've tried running the server without your firewall active and it still does it, then I guess that rules that out.
In your original posting you said that it happens after a random (but always short) period of time. Does that mean that you can connect almost immediately after firing up the machine without problems? If this screen appears again, (blah blah blah) I've tried different combinations of having the firewall / video cards running, and it always seems to crash with the same error. I also tried the TightVNC viewer but that crashed too (I'll see what happens when I run the TVNC server) Although I now can't get it to crash, which is odd (everything's the same) which is actually a shame because I was going to record the time of the crash so I could look back at the system logs. Anyway I'll try TightVNC tomorrow and see what happens. (Are there any other versions of VNC i could try?)
