Depends on the entire configuration. First find out what is the bottle-neck:
OVerall: restricht the amounth of data that needs to be processed:
Reduce color depth IF the server is a M$Windows machine, put it's display in
8 bits colors (== 256 colors) For unix based vncservers: use 8 bits colors
too...
Reduce window size: Do you realy need this 1600x1200 geometry? or can you do
with 800x600? Twiggle a little with this.

Then check for the bottlenech and reduce it's load. If the viewer machine is
a bottleneck, put it's color depth in the same depth as the server side (8
bits) and a the next larger geometry as the server side. 

If viewing in a browser, try the vncviewer. Also try twiggeling with the
options.
