OK, I connect to a single server system over the Internet. The server is a Win95 machine. I use NT4. Was having problems where the session would invariably freeze after a few minutes, oftentimes apparently locking up the server as well. Did some tinkering with screen savers and video settings on the server and now it no longer locks up, but the sessions invariably freeze at my end after just a few minutes or sometimes only a few seconds. The connection is sometimes slow as dogs and I've seen several instances where it's taken many seconds for the screen to update, but there's been other instances where I've waited minutes for the screen to update without it ever doing so. In these circumstances I close the connection and open a new one. Often times the action I was trying to accomplish when the 'freeze' occurred has happened. For example, the session freezes and the mouse pointer does not move though I am moving the mouse. I then right click on the desktop to bring up the desktop context menu. I wait a minute of more and nothing happens. I close the connection and open a new one, and see that the desktop context menu is open.
Is this just a really slow screen refresh issue, or is the session really hanging up at my end? Either way, is there anything I can do to make it work more smoothly? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
