Hi, I have searched through the mail archives and cannot find an answer to the problem I am having.
A little background: I have an electronic logbook application written in Java with a Java display. The application runs on RedHat Linux. I need to send the display over the network but being Java it is horribly slow if I use a standard X-connection. So I have been testing VNC as a possible solution. My initial test used a Redhat 6.1 machine as the server and clients on RedHat 6.1 and W2K. Everything worked well and the performance was good. Now I have the server running on a Redhat 7.1 machine. There is an operation in the application where one does a search of the database and a button is highlighted showing the number of entries found. You then drag this button to another window and the contents of the entries are displayed in the window. This works fine if my client is a W2K machine but when I do the same operation using a Linux client (either 6.1 or 7.1) then the application freezes after the drag-and drop operation and I have to kill it. The server and the client session continue to run just fine. I am stumped as to what to try next. The fact that it works with the W2K client and on 6.1 suggests it is not an operation that is not supported by VNC. I have recomplied all the VNC code on the 7.1 ssytem but this does not seem to make any difference. Does anyone have any suggestions.
