Port 177 is the XDMCP listener, not the port that Xvnc uses.

Client connects to ---> VNC port (59xx) which connects to ---> port 177
of Xserver

I don't know about port 177.

When you connect, you should connect something like

192.168.1.21:50

Leave of the initial 59. The software is already aware of that.

I can't even connect to port 177.  Is that a problem?  Should
