Assuming you are using inetd, edit the inetd.conf file and change the
"-broadcast" statement to "-query localhost". Currently it is hitting
the wire and looking for XDMCP broadcasts but you don't appear to want
that (just like I don't). The new option tells Xvnc to connect to the
the local XDMCP port.

Otherwise it is possible (I assume) to continue using the -broadcast
option but get the chooser configured correctly so that instead of just
giving you the Xlogin of the first remote box it finds, it should give
you a choice of all visible broadcasting XDMCP hosts to choose from
(which should include all boxes in the broadcast radius), but I have
never spent time and figured out how to do that.

hi all,

i have had a redhat 7.1 box running vnc for quite sometime. we have it
set
up using ixvnc and it works great.
i recently set up another box using redhat 7.2 and ixvnc as well. when
i
connect to it from another machine i get the correct window heading but
it
relays to my other 7.1 box. i get a session to my older box but things
are
a bit different. the login screen has squares rather than the name of
the
server.
if i disconnect it from the network and connect to itself i get the
grey
screen with no window manager running. i changed the
/root/.vnc/xstartup
file to use gnome but that didn't help.

can anyone help me?
