Hi I have vncserver 3.3.3r2 running on a linux box:
Linux hoho 2.4.0-test6 #1 Thu Aug 10 16:18:50 CDT 2000 i686 unknown I am viewing the screens over an internal intranet using both/either VNCthing (latest) and VNC Viewer by Charles McLachlan 3.3.3r2 version too. The viewing client machine is either an iMac (450Mhz with 576 MB of ram) or a Quadra 840av with 128 MB of ram. The problem appears on both machines and client programs, so I think it is server related. My problem is that there appears to be 2 separate screens which are being handled and presented by the vncserver. I can open up an xterm window, add Xeyes, etc. and then work with a program which uses multiple windows on screen (dia or fetchmailconf). When I am in the middle of doing something, usually when I have touched a screen boundary with a mouse slew - Suddenly a 'new' screen appears - with a different xterm window. All of the other on-screen windows have disappeared. I can move the xterm window on the current screen around, slew the mouse, open other windows/applications, basically trying to duplicate some magic mouse or keyboard combination which will cause the 'other' screen to reappear. After spazing around for a few minutes (really - minutes!), the 'other' screen reappears and I can continue working on what I really was doing. Until of course, it disappears - bringing back the alternate screen. It is very frustrating.. What can I explicitly do to 'switch' between these two screens? What is happening? I have looked at the docs and have upgraded servers and clients and I continue to have this problem. It has plagued me for months. As a consequence, I do most of my work using BetterTelnet. It is only when I need an X connection that I get into VNC.
