As you stated, you changed the user password (current_user) and it can be
found in the registry at Current_user/software/orl/winvnc3 it is a key
called password. Now your old password (or the default) can be set via
Start -> Programs -> vnc -> Administrative Tools -> Show default Settings
(just clicking on the taskbar icon gives you current user). And this
password can be found in local_machine/software/orl/winvnc3 in a key called
password. (If the localmachine doesn't have one, you can't run as a
service). But you can delete the one out of current user without problem.

Subject: Changing password within NT

I have changed the passwords on our NT boxes at work. I simply went into
user settings and entered in a new password. Now when I log onto the machine
I can vnc into it using the old password - which gets me to the login screen
within NT. I then login...it boots me from vnc. I try to get in once more
and can now only use the new vnc password. So in effect I can use both the
old and new passwords but at different stages of the login process. Is there
a reg key I need to clear or a password file somewhere which needs to be
cleared?

Thanks in advance.
Hammo
