Well, I've had an interesting day. I updated the video driver, rebooted the
server, and got a BSOD on boot up. It wouldn't boot in VGA mode, or last
known good. I tried the repair disk, that re-set a couple of video files to
the OS defaults, but still no joy. I went in using DOS (and a very handy DOS
NTFS viewer) and deleted all the video files, manually reinstalling them.
Still no joy. Eventually gave up and phoned tech support who very helpfully
told me to rebuild the server.
Anyway, the server now has a brand new install of NT4 on it, and guess
what...VNC is working perfectly on it. I'm not sure that is the easiest way
of troubleshooting a problem, but if it works... :o)

Check to see what should be at that address.
It will probably be the video driver. I might suggest updating it.

Hi Group

I am using VNC to connect to NT4 SP6a servers. On three of them it works
fine, with no problems at all. On the other two, the service crashes with
the following application error:

WinVNC.exe
Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x0042a873

The event viewer gives no error logs.
Sorry if this has been asked before, I have checked the archives, but it may
have slipped through my search
