Does the -kill option is able to stop the winvnc service even if the close vnc option is disabled in the registry (disableshutdown) ?

Well, you can create a shortcut somewhere on the machine running the server to "c:\path\to\vnc\winvnc.exe -kill". The "-kill", as it's name implies, kills a running server. So, when you want to disconnect, simply click the shortcut. It will stop the running winvnc server, and thereby disconnect you. You might get an error pop up on the viewer side saying "server disconnected", but that's about it. Of course, someone would have to manually restart the server before you can connect again... Also, I don't know how this behaves with winvnc as a service - this will work just fine when running the server in app mode (ie, simply running winvnc.exe as a normal application). I have noticed that after the winvnc server has been run on win 98 / 2000 and quit from, I`ve found I can still connect to it from another machine. I then discovered the server program is actually still running as it can be seen in the task manager. Is there any way to actually make the server program completely end running as soon as it is quit from the tray icon? Thanks if anyone can help :) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
