Actually, they are all well documented, IMO as there's been some debate on the quality of the documentation, on the WinVNC documentation page (http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/winvnc.html). I simply printed out the documentation, wrote the templates for my reg files out, modified the registry appropriately on a test machine to verify that my templates worked and incorporated the finished reg file into the network login script. WinVNC 3.3.9 and other VNC products based on that release should remove the wallpaper by default. I use Tight VNC 1.2.0 on any machines that need to make lower bandwidth connections. As to restricting the viewer to 8bits, there is no way to actually do this at present. There is one approach to simulating the restriction: Create a config file for each connection that will be made and use the viewer with the -config switch. We incorporated the -config switch into the default open command for .vnc config files. As long as your users only connect using the config files they'll only connect using whatever preset options you want.
