Hi Andrea!

I used to get that a lot (the lost p/w that is), but I don't now because I 
always 1st install winvnc, add reg settings, install service, then go to the 
"services" section in administration tools - start it there; then I enter 
the password.

I think it has something to do with application vs service password.  If you 
start vnc as application, then is saved p/w as app.

If I were you, I'd uninstall, and delete EVERY reference to vnc in the 
registry and any left over files/folders, and then reboot.

Then, I'd do what I said above.

But I don't do windows 98 cuz it sux ha ha.
