Hi list!

I found and have been testing a SSH server install package from:
http://www.networksimplicity.com/openssh/

This package makes SSH server setup as easy as falling off a log.

All you do is:

Download his install file and unzip

Install the package with the standard setup wizard.

Edit the passwd file and make the nt_user your nt username, and change the
520 to increment for each added user (which for now has to be
administrators). Also, if the main administrator username is other than
"Administrator" change it like that in the passwd file.

Then start the openssh service.

You have just installed SSH server on your NT/2K box! So easy.

His package has a few problems--like the command line doesn't have history,
but he is working to fix this. He's rad.

Oh yah, you have to add that loopback dword value to the registry of the
server (not sure if its also needed on the client that doesn't have winvnc
on it??).

Then just like they say on the vnc site:

ssh -L 5900:ntcomputer:5900 ntcomputer (or ssh -L 5900:other-computer:5900
ntcomputer <-- use as gateway)

I also like to add the -C and -N so it doesn't allocate a terminal when all
I want to do is use vnc.

Well, I hope you guys find that package as useful for you as it was for me.
It really demystified SSH, and told me just how easy it is to use!

Bye,

Karen.
