Still need help with VNC on Slackware 8.0... Wez, are you still out there?
First of all, I am having problems compiling. After running "xmkmf" and
"make World", I am getting the follow error message shortly after the compile
starts:
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `vncviewer.man', needed by
`vncviewer._man'. Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/software/vnc_unixsrc/vncviewer'
make[1]: *** [all] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/software/vnc_unixsrc'
make: *** [World] Error 2
Using 3.3.3r2_unixsource, but also tried 3.3.3r1 and having the same
problem. Any suggestions?
I did try the precompiled binary, which worked, but the reason I want to
recompile is to be able to use the GiveUp(0) modifications and to customize
the titlebar, which brings me to my next question. I can't get the KDM
screen to come up using the -inetd option. I've got it running on another
Slackware box at work, but I can't seem to figure out what I did to get it that
way. I've modified /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf and the server starts
when I connect to it with the viewer, but all I get is grey grey grey. Also,
after I modified my .vnc/xstartup file, KDE runs fine when I run vncserver. I
just don't remember what other files I had to modify in order to get KDM to
run (right now it seems to run for a minute and then quit). Can somebody
please jog my memory on how to do this like they did the first time (I
checked the list archives but couldn't find anything useful).
Thanks in advance.
