Another thought - were u logged in as local Administrator when u setup
VNC and installed the service? In my experience it is the only way to
set it up on Win2K. Once setup and service is installed as
Administrator, re-boot and all users should have the same password set
and the icon in their system tray. If ur logged in as anything less,
users will always be prompted to set passwords on login, and remote
machines will not be able to connect...

Subject: Re: VNC Password for NT Service on Windows 2000

Hello Matt,

I figured this out this weekend.

first I changed following Registry Key as follows.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default]
"AuthRequired"=dword:00000000

Changes take affect after restarting the vnc service

(net stop winvnc - net start winvnc)

Then change the password over the the vnc/Admintools
(in the programs folder) ...

bye
Axel
