I use VNC to remotely administer a Win2K Pro machine that
has a 166Mhz Cyrix CPU and just 32Mb RAM, and a 10Mbps
network connection... I can even play Solitaire reasonably well
through my 64K ISDN connection at home.

Response is a bit juddery, by only by tenths of a second.

Have a look at Task Manager while the app is running (with a
connection), and see if there are any clues as to why it may be
slow - ie who's hogging CPU time? You might have something
trying to run near mission critical that stops lower level processes
like VNC from operating effectively.
