Anybody can help me on the following problem;
I have compiled (using gcc 2.95.3) the VNC source under Solaris
2.7, I have tried on Solaris 2.7 (On Solaris 2.5.1 we do not have the
javac..). I have some question that need your advice;
1. Everytime when I connected the vnc server with the vncviewer, I
have some message which is related to the color;
"VNC authentication succeeded
Desktop name "root's X desktop (Logos:1)"
Connected to VNC server, using protocol version 3.3 VNC server default
format:
8 bits per pixel.
True colour: max red 7 green 7 blue 3, shift red 0 green 3 blue 6
Using default colormap and translating from BGR233. Pixel format:
8 bits per pixel.
True colour: max red 7 green 7 blue 3, shift red 0 green 3 blue 6
Got 199 exact BGR233 colours out of 256 Using 6 existing shared
colours"
I have tried to modify the vncserver ( on the $depth = 8; to 16 or 32,
)
but I remain connected with 8 bits color, the message as following;

Most significant byte first in each pixel.
True colour: max red 63 green 31 blue 31, shift red 0 green 6 blue 11
Using default colormap and translating from BGR233. Pixel format:
8 bits per pixel.
True colour: max red 7 green 7 blue 3, shift red 0 green 3 blue 6
Got 199 exact BGR233 colours out of 256 Using 6 existing shared
colours

I have also changed the .vnc/xstartup's windows manager from twm
(openwin) to dtwm (CDE) but I do not see any improvemnet, eventhougt I
have connected via netscape browser (Just for your information both
server and client are Solaris 7 installed with Creater 3D graphics
card) Do you have any idea ? I have read the FAQ but nothing on this
topic.
2. Anyway to improve the speed of displaying the windows ?
