Heya. It may have something to do with the firewall/proxy
you have at work not being happy about allowing replies back
from anything but the "common services", such as HTTP or TELNET.
So what you might want to try is setting up your home VNC server
to run its service on port 80 instead of port 5900. Then your
work proxy will think you're just talking to a website, which
I presume it allows...
Before you do that, though, a quick test: what do you
see when you "telnet myip port"? Does that get an "RFB" reply
from your VNC server?
