It would help a bit if you state what kind of computers you are dealing with:
Linux (which distro)
Solaris (which version)
Win95
Win98
WinME
WinNT4
W2000
 etc
A lot to choose from.....

Subject: Failed to connect to server

Hello

I've just installed VNC, but am having a problem.

I have two computers on a LAN. On both machines I've installed VNC. One
machine A, I load up the server, set up a password, and the tray icon
appears.

On machine B, I load up the viewer, and try to conenct to the machine A. I
enter its host name (also tried IP - "192.168.0.1") and press enter. I get
the "Failed to Connect to Server".

However, If on machine B I start the viewer in listening mode, and then on
machine A I "Add New Client", machine A's desktop appears suddenly on
machine B.

So, in other words, I can't connect directly to machine A from B using the
viewer, or virse versa, but can connect if one machine listens, and the
other machine adds the other as a client.

Anyone know what could possible be wrong?

PS - I've also tried TridiaVNC - exact same problem.

TIA

Saleel.
