Well,
I have tried to get inetd running every which way without any joy.
After making the what looked like the appropriate substitutions in the dovnc
script and the Xvncinetd script described here I came up with about the same
thing....
I am now getting a black screen that pops up and disappears.........
the logs all look OK... no indication of why its not working.....
