Hello

at our institue several people have a PC and a Sun Workstation
at their desk sharing the same monitor (with two inputs). For
not having to change the keyboard all the time we installed vnc
server on the PC (W2000 Client) and the vnc-client on the Sun
Workstation (sunos 5.7 vncviewer 3.3.3). This funktions very
nicely, but still speed is not optimal (we also use Citrix in
a different context and use Timbuktu Pro for Window to Macintosh)

Is there a way to fully disable the screen update on the vnc-
client? We could live with a black screen if we get a faster
response of the mouse ;-) We have downloaded the vnc-server
files, but it is to big to easily find the place to disable
the screen. (We disable all polling and use 8-bit transmission,
but still the mouse could be faster, as we do not need any
screen update).

A problem we all experience is the keyboard:

if on unix keyboard you once pressed the Meta-Key (anywhere,
anytime) and you go back to the vnc-viewer, Windows acts as
if the Shift key is pressed. (if you then double-click an
icon in window all icons get selected first and then...)

In some applications (like outlook) the Meta Key gives a 'h'
and the shift key together with the arrow keys do not select
anymore.

In the command window (on Windows) the keys \ and ~ do not
function, which is unusable for DOS (sorry for still using
DOS, but...)

thanks for taking your time
