Hey all,
I have been using vnc for a few years now, on Sun and 9x/nt. I don't use new
software as soon as it comes out, I wait a few weeks first. So when the new
release of Winvnc came out (R9), I waited. I have since updated a few of my
win98/nt machines to R9. But I seem to be experiencing a problem with the
desktop wallpaper.
I do notice a slight difference when going over a 128 ISDN connection, but
cable I don't see much improvement.
But that isn't the problem. I use both the Java and native viewer. If I
crash when using the Java viewer, my wallpaper doesn't return. But with the
native viewer, 1 out of three times it will revert back to no wallpaper.
This is with closing the viewer side.
Okay so now lets disable this feature in the registry.
Now If my connection with the Java viewer crashes or if I disconnect with
the native viewer while the machine is busy I loose my wallpaper.
I would assume that there is a registry feature to disable the wallpaper
feature that it should work all the time. But it doesn't I can still loose
my wallpaper.
I use wallpaper to identify which machine I am on.
I have since reverted back to r7.
If someone wants to test this, email me and I will give detailed steps to
prove this functionality or lack there of.
