Tried to contact the author of mfviewer, the extended java
vnc client and got a bounce.

I was experimening with his java client on a local LAN
environment.

Which said ...

Just given vnc a tryout and a java client from
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/extras.html#altjava

which i'm very impressed with.

Unfortunately the java client is crashing a lot at the moment,
any ideas what causes this?

Setup for client is NT4 WKS, SP6a, to a FreeBSD 4.2-Stable,
vnc from ports tree aka vnc-3.3.3r2_unixsrc.tar.gz.

I'm starting the server with just vncserver &

And the client with

C:\temp1\mfviewer>jview vncviewer 192.168.123.205:1
RFB server supports protocol version 3.3
VNC authentication succeeded
sending client init
Desktop name is root's X desktop (abc.xyz.com:1)
Desktop size is 1024 x 768
disconnect

It connects for a few minutes and then crashes.

C:\temp1\mfviewer>jview

PS. Are there better java vnc clients / more stable?

Darren
