I don't get the same functionality.  When any of my users click Exit it
pretty much hangs the session.  To be more precise I think the screen is
updated, but no events are sent to the apps.  One of the differences was
that I had the users run Xvnc rather than starting it out of rc.

Well, you can do "the same" just by adding Xvnc as an X server to
/etc/dt/config/Xservers, but there is a nasty dtlogin bug (in my
opinion) that runs all the Xservers under the username appearing last in
the Xservers file.

I don't follow you here.  By xserver do you mean Xnc?
