I had a problem with the "5" key, which was recognized as the backspace.
Don't know if this is the problem you have. The solution is find the system
"Xmodmap" file (on my Linux box it's in /etc/X11/xinit, but I don't know
where it is on an AIX system) and delete the line that says "keycode 22 =
Backspace".
