I got Mentor Software to run on a VNC-generated screen with the following
commands:
# Create a temporary directory where to collect mgc fonts
mkdir ./temporary_font_collection
# Collect mgc fonts
$MGC_HOME/bin/mgc_font_collect ./temporary_font_collection
# Create a directory where to put converted mgc fonts
mkdir ./mgc_specific_fonts_for_VNC
# convert them
$MGC_HOME/bin/mgc_font_convert -u /usr/openwin/bin x11r5
./temporary_font_collection ./mgc_specific_fonts_for_VNC
Now add the path to the converted fonts to the font-line in the
"vncserver-script", e.g.
$cmd .= -fp ...,<full path>/.mgc_specific_fonts_for_VNC
and restart "Xvnc".

This list strips attachments. Could you send it to me also.
Have you tried to use the -query option. I use this on 2.6 sparc and 2.7
intel versions of Solaris to get the dtlogin screen.

did you manage to get your vncserver running?
To complete my last answer I appended the differences between the original
vncserver and the one modified to meet my need. There you can see which
fonts
will work and which session manager to start to get a CDE session. I'm still
looking for better options but at the moment it works fine.
BTW, I'm running Solaris 7 and the precompiled versions for vncserver and
vncviewer.

I will do some more tests, by now I'm trying to build Xvnc from the sources
as maybe the Solaris 2.5 binary is not running ok on my box. When I have
binaries for 2.8 I will do some more test and send you the logs.

Which ones does Xvnc crach on your system ??
On mine font fixed (needed) seems to be on /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/misc/
With just this font there is no error on the log

It does the same on mine, but if I wait some time it starts a terminal but
