Hello everyone.
I'm new to the list, so I apologize if I'm about to ask a question that has
already gone through this group. But hopefully, someone can spare a few
minutes to help out.
I work for a university and in charge of supporting a wide array of wintel
machines (9x/nt/2k). A large portion of the problems that come in could be
resolved through remote administration. I've tried several programs (such
as RemotelyAnywhere) and while they're great, the problem is the cost of the
license(s). VNC seems great, but there are a couple of issues I would like
to know about. I couldn't find any info, so hopefully someone here can shed
some light:
1) Is there a way to make the password permanent and not allow the user to
change it?
2) Is there a way to remove the icon on the task bar so the user can't see
the settings?
3) What is the easiest way of deploying VNC on the current crop of machines
on campus?
Of course, if anyone is in the same type of situation and have successfully
implemented VNC as a solution, I would love to hear from you. Any insights
you can share would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Joel
