VNC makes your desktop act as a glorified green screen, so you can
forget it as a "computer". The remote machine has to be able to see the
printer next to you. This is a network problem. 

On a private network the security issues of enabling your remote machine
to see your printer are not too bad, but as the network grows, you get
security/maintenance probems.
