according to Microsoft, if you "view" a Windows desktop and therefore use
its "benefits" you MUST pay for a license. hence why our NT Terminal
servers here on campus -- the ones that serve up PeopleSoft -- are not
going to Win2K. if they did, the campus would have to shell out tens of
thousands of dollars to MS. (the reason we don't have to now is that most
people using the PeopleSoft app are already running NT...except for the
people on the beloved Mac. :-) and we have to pay MS for the number of
Mac people using PeopleSoft and hence, NT!)
