Installing through Add/Remove Programs won't make any difference in this
case.

The problem appears to be that the binaries Luca is trying to install make use
of the GetWindowInfo API.  VNC Viewer Free Edition doesn't make use of
GetWindowInfo, so this suggests that the installer he mentions below is not
the VNC Free Edition one.
