If you're looking for tunneling software (which you should be), try the
free "stunnel". It uses SSL encryption and certificates to secure any
ports. There is a HowTo called "How To Secure VNC With Stunnel" that I
wrote and placed on the Fedora Forums at
http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=186431

The HowTo is written for Windows stunnel/VNC Viewer (clients) going to a
Fedora Server stunnel/VNC Server, but the server setup is simpler for a
Windows machine. There are ample examples in the install files from
http://www.stunnel.org/ too.

I would definitely not recommend leaving ports 5900/5800 open to any
network from the Internet. Port scanners check these and unscrupulous
hackers try to exploit them.
