Uh, yes you're right - I was a bit too quick with my observation. I
just tried RealVNC Enterprise and VNC via NX:

* RealVNC Enterprise is much snappier than NX VNC (and so is TightVNC
which doesn't support native encryption, though), especially when
scrolling. This is weird, since NoMachine advertises VNC via NX to be
  an especially quick VNC solution.

* However, RealVNC and NX VNC are both very slow over a ca. 200 Kbit
connection (I need reasonably high image quality).

I'll now investigate additional solutions:

* x11vnc in an ordinary NX session (i.e. X11 via NX). This could work
fine, since the conditions are as follows:

  - Only one user is having a slow connection. He could then use the
    connection via NX.

  - The other user has a very fast connection. He can then use VNC.

Surprisingly, this seems to work, though I haven't checked performance
  yet.

* Maybe Windows remote desktop (though, I'd prefer LINUX).

But, I'll keep RealVNC enterprise in the back of my head - could be
handy some time.
