I found out that the icons will only be shown if OpenGL is enabled. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Duncan, The most likely cause of problems is that the application you're using doesn't cope with X visuals properly, and requires that they have a specific format, e.g. RGB888, rather than allowing arbitrary compatible formats such as BGR888, etc. You can use the -pixelformat option instead of -depth to set Xvnc to use a particular format that the application is compatible with.
